From advancing cutting-edge research to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in the academe, philanthropic support from private foundations fuels UIC’s impact.

UIC was awarded a three-year, $5 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support a national initiative in Latino humanities studies called “Crossing Latinidades: Emerging Scholars and New Comparative Directions.”

UIC School of Public Health’s Collaboratory for Health Justice was awarded a grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to extend its work building public health capacity at the neighborhood level in Chicago, in the wake of health inequities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
