Gary Reschak BS ’77, MS ’84

Gary Reschak BS '77, MS '84 retired after a distinguished 33-year career at Northwestern Medicine.

In January 2025, Reschak marked his 70th birthday and retired after a distinguished 33-year career at Northwestern Medicine. Reschak began his journey at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 1992, spending 12 years in various administrative roles. In 2004, Reschak transitioned to the clinical side, working for 12 years in the Inpatient Dialysis Unit. In 2016, Reschak transferred to the Outpatient Solid Organ Transplant Clinic, where he spent the final nine years of his career.

Reschak's nursing career began in 1979 as a Staff Nurse at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital on the Ortho-Neuro-Thoracic unit. In 1980, Reschak was offered an Assistant Head Nurse position in the Neuro-Neurosurgery department at the University of Illinois Hospital, where he worked until 1985. Reschak earned a Master’s in Nursing Service Administration from the University of Illinois and subsequently moved to Grant Hospital of Chicago, serving as Head Nurse and in various administrative roles from 1985 to 1992.

After 46 years in nursing, Reschak looks forward to a new chapter of life. Plans include spending time with his wife of 45 years, Ramona, their two sons, Gary and Keith, and their four granddaughters—Anna, Lucy, Sofie, and Emily. The first few years of retirement will be focused on settling into this new phase of life, with no major plans on the horizon.
