Chicago Architecture and Pop Culture

Stewart Hicks, associate professor of architecture at UIC’s College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts, finds that buildings are often an important character in many of pop culture’s best stories. In fact, his new YouTube series investigates architecture in the context of graphic novels, Lego and even George Costanza. He uses this unique approach to teach his students, and the world, about architecture, and is bringing it to us. During this hour at 12 p.m. CT on June 9, he’ll show some ways buildings can live beyond their bricks and mortar in stories, using Chicago’s own Thompson Center as an example.
