Andrea Kuettel, NURS ’85
University of Illinois alumna Andrea C. Kuettel, Esq. (B.S., ’85), is among the founding members of a new law firm designed to help clients minimize risks and maximize opportunities associated with cybersecurity, data protection, information technology, privacy law and litigation. Beckage PLLC has launched with six attorneys, professionals and technologists, creating a unique team with real-world, hands-on experience.
Ms. Kuettel represents clients in the health care industry, including medical providers, insurance companies and other covered entities under HIPAA and HITECH. Andrea interfaces with regulators, including serving as the main client contact for federal reporting to Health and Human Services, HHS Office of Civil Rights, and the New York State Comptroller. At Beckage, she oversees internal audits of client operations to ensure patient privacy compliance, including with the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, and manages client contracts with business associates and vendors to ensure third party compliance.
Prior to joining Beckage, she was in-house counsel at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y. She also holds a Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University as well as a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
