Ron Vasile, LAS ’97

Alumnus Ronald Scott Vasile, UIC History graduate, 1997, recently had a book published by Northern Illinois University Press. William Stimpson and the Golden Age of American Natural History is the first biography of Stimpson, who helped establish the Smithsonian Institution's Department of Marine Invertebrates and helped build the Chicago Academy of Sciences into one of the country's largest natural history museums, only to see the Academy and his life's work destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
