Ray Garcia, MD, FAPA, a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, is a recipient of the American Psychiatric Association’s 2019-2020 Nancy C.A. Roeske, MD, Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education. This award recognizes the outstanding and sustaining contributions to medical student education that Dr. Garcia has made as a faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. “This is a well-deserved tribute to Dr. Garcia’s dedication to excellence in medical student education,” says Geri Fox, MD, head of the Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Garcia is a 1994 graduate of the College of Medicine Rockford and has been on the faculty since 1998. He was the 2018 recipient of the College of Medicine Rockford’s Distinguished Teaching Award and has also received Golden Apple and Mentor of the Year awards from the college. He is the medical director at Rosecrance Harrison Adult Campus and is board-certified in psychiatry, neurology and addictionology.
