Gun Violence, Public Safety and Public Health

In light of recent mass shootings across the country, we are taking a look at gun violence through a public health lens, with the help of Terry Williams MPH ’20. Williams is a seasoned expert in public safety and community engagement, and also serves as a sergeant on the UIC police force. Drawing on his research of merging public health with public safety, Williams will walk through the prevalence of gun violence, its traumatic effects on communities, the role of public health in addressing it and suggested action-based approaches and solutions.
